Professional and Educational Background

Mark Lazich, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, received his Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology from Southern Oregon University. He has training in cognitive behavioral therapy, which is influenced by his existential-humanistic and multicultural orientations.  He has further post-graduate training in the areas of child and family therapy, chronic mental illness, developmental disabilities, EMDR, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), motivational interviewing, and men’s issues. Mark maintains a clinical practice serving primarily adults, adolescents and their families. Mark has been licensed in Washington State since 2003. Mark has worked in the mental health field for over ten years in a variety of settings such as public schools, universities, private boarding schools, residential treatment centers and wilderness expeditionary programs. He views the psychotherapy process as a collaborative effort between the client and himself. He believes that self-acceptance and responsibility are essential to a healthy existence. Particularly in today’s post-modern world, creating a balance between self, family, community, and spirituality is a constant challenge.  Mark brings a strong experiential orientation to his clinical practice. When clinically appropriate, he utilizes the unique intrapersonal insights available to clients through activity in the natural world.   His goal, as a psychotherapist is to assist the client with any immediate concerns and enable personal self growth as a result.
